First Days of School

So I got an e-mail from my mom this morning wondering if I was having internet problems and if that was the reason that I had not posted. I actually was having internet problems earlier in the week but due to my genius I was able to correct them.

So school started on Monday and it was not nearly as big of a change as I thought it would be. On Monday my first class is at 1 and it is math 1010. This class is in the Engineering Building and it is always uncomfortably warm and smells horribly of BO!!! My professor is french and speaks with a very thick french accent so that you always have to pay attention or you don't know what she is saying. With Math I have the class everyday... so it sucks. The only plus is that she said that she will not require attendance on Fridays!

My second class was Art 1010 which I found out that it is actually not a studio class so we will not actually be doing any art. In this class you learn how to correctly judge and critic art work. The first day was very interesting and I think that I am really going to like this class.

Those are my only two classes on MWF.

On T,Th my schedule goes as follows:

My first class on Tuesday was The History of Western Civilization which is going to be by far my most difficult class. I took like 2 1/2 pages of notes. yeah it is going to be a ton of work!!

My second class is math with that french lady.

My third class was institute and it will be a ton of fun because two of the first people I met down here are in it with nate and I.

My fourth and final class of the day was Psychology 1010 with a crazy lady. She is like 55 and sat on the table, kicked her shoes off and crossed her legs, then started talking about stuff dealing with the brain like it was common knowledge, the result was that no one had any idea what she was saying. So yeah, that class will be interesting!

Things have been way fun and due to all of my partying I have came down with a cold yesterday. Last night was a pretty miserable night due to the fact that I could not breath at all through my nose, and that the people who live behind us left there back light on so it was almost daytime in our room.

Update

I have been filling out job apps and really wish that i already had a job so I do not have to go through this process yet again. I had to purchase all my books which came to a ridiculous $300.00!! yeah I am so poor now! And then on top of that having to pay tuition which was not as expensive as it would have been because of my academic scholarship, and my architecture scholarship, but still. Yeah so now, finding a job is more important than it would initially have been.

On Saturday our ward had a BBQ and so that was kind of fun to go and meet the Bishop and the other people in my ward.

Today was my first Sunday with my ward, and thankfully I it was not nearly as painful as my singles ward at home. My ward is the 11th ward of the University 2nd stake. There are a ton of freshmen in my ward so it is pretty cool.

For dinner tonight we put together a huge Sunday dinner with a couple of other apartments it was way fun and it all worked out! There were about 14 of us all total and we all brought different stuff, I brought scalloped potatoes, yeah they turned out amazing!! so yeah, now we are all heading to ward prayer at the bishops mansion, they were saying that last semester they fit like 130 people for ward prayer in his house. I am quite looking forward to seeing this huge house!

So things are good. School starts tomorrow, I am kind of nervous, but mostly just excited to have it start. Tomorrow I have math and art, so it will be a pretty good day!

E-mail

Hey, so my e-mail is Jordan_giles03@hotmail.com should you like to e-mail me.

thanks

So today was pretty much worthless! Today was the university orientation. yeah, as i said, worthless. So it started at 8 a.m. and went until about 5 p.m. There definately was some benifitial information given, but there was no need for it to be like a thousand hours long!!

So we went and they divided us into 11 different groups and of course Tyson, Nate, and I were all in different groups. They divided us into groups according to our major, Nate was Pre-Dental, Tyson was Pre-Med, and for some reason I was undecided. I am not sure if I was just lazy when I signed up, or if I was not sure what my major would be called or what, but I was in the loser group of the undecided. For the record, I my major as of right now is Commercial Architecture.

After the division, they gave a sort of intro about the school and the history of it. Then we went to the theater and got a lecture about the requirement and that sort of thing, this was the only really valuable information that was presented to us. After a general lecture they broke us up into our separate groups to get more info on our specific majors, or lack of one. So I was in the undecided group and the academic adviser just lectured us about how it was ok to not have a major and what not, I kind of tuned out because I already knew what I wanted to do and was starving so ... yeah.

After that ridiculous advisement, it was lunch time and I was so hungry! They had a sort of build your own taco line thing, it was way good! they gave us a very long time for lunch so Nate, Tyson, and I went and took a look in the bookstore.

After Lunch they divided everyone up again and had them go talk to their adviser to finalize their schedules. This was also great because it was one on one with someone who knew what they were doing. So I asked some questions about my different classes and what not and came out with a healthy 17 credit hours, more than any of my friends. Because they met with everyone individually this literally took FOREVER!!! (like 3 hours).

After that ordeal, we took a very extensive tour in the burning inferno outside, it was so hot!!

So this was pretty much my whole day. So I made some friends last night (girls of course). One of my friends from Taco Amigo, Chelsea came over with one of her roommates, Ashley, and then another friend Staci. They are way cool and we hung-out at my ... house, thats weird to say!, the last two nights. So yeah, this was my day today!

Very Weird

So i am not sure that i am completely ready to live on my own ha ha. it has been so weird!! Nate and i went grocery shopping for the first time today and it was weird to have to create a "meal plan" for the next week so we would not have to go to Walmart like a thousand times this week.

tonight for dinner we had BBQ chicken. we bought some frozen chicken fingers and created a "meal" out of them. the only thing was that we forgot to let the chicken thaw before we cooked it, so we just put it in the oven.... frozen. we were just grateful that it turned out edible.

here are some pics from my day today.
this is Nate my roommate and one of my best friends
